HELLO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT'S BEEN A MEGA LONG TIME SINCE MAY&FJ UPDATED THIS SPACE! WE MISSED YOU LOVELIES SOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH!

Hugs and kisses to you all for keeping a look out on this page even though the last update was a month ago :O the horror of exams has taken a toll on the both of us! But if you have been following our instagrams, you'd realized that the both of us are still out eating and posting photos, just not much on the blog as of now!

But worry no more! We are back to do a post on a famous buffet place: Kiseki! I am sure many of you peeps have heard of it! My mum went over there for a primary school mates gathering and was raving about that place so May and I had to go down and take a look. We went for a weekday lunch with HY and did not make a reservation (dumb on our part for thinking there would be not many people eating a buffet on a weekday). There were two queues! A reservation queue and a walk in queue, having not made a reservation, we queued at the uber looooooooooooooong walk in queue, it took us about 30 mins to get in that day. It wasn't that bad considering the length of the queue. But this just tells you how popular this place is!

This link here takes you to their pricing page. We went on a weekday for lunch hence we paid about $23.50/person.

Just a sum up of what they have for their lunch buffet:

  • Skinny Pizza slices
  • Spaghetti
  • Fried rice
  • Hot Pot Boiled soups
  • Chwanmushi
  • Sashimi
  • Sushi
  • Tako balls
  • Salads
  • Tempuras: prawn, pork, fish, vegetables etc
  • Japanese Grills: mushrooms, chicken, pork
  • Desserts: cakes, waffles, ice cream, jellies, chocolate foundue and fruits
  • Stir Fried dishes
  • Oden
  • Japanese Vegetables

What do we recommend you to have there:
  • Sashimi: It was the ultz! The three of us had SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much! Think we had about 30 or more.
  • Hot Pot Boiled soups: sooooooooooo good!
  • Tako balls: nothing ever goes wrong with tako balls, they were delish!
  • Chwanmushi: even my mum had several helpings of it! It was good! So worth the stomach space!
  • Onden: The japanese fishcake was chewy! So worth trying some.

What do we recommend you not to have there:
  • Fried Chicken: its something you have to take the liberty to order; which tasted dry and was hard in texture.
  • Stir fried vegetable: not a must, and not thaaaat healthy either (there's always a salad to substitute it)
  • Rice and Spaghetti: take up sooooo much carbo and stomach space =  not value for money
  • Desserts: the cakes were horrid, the waffles ain't Belgian waffles, the chocolate from the chocolate fondue did not harden at all. It was rather weird.
  • Wasabi: It only had the taste, but was not spicy at all.

Overall impression of Kiseki, if you know what are the best grabs you're money would be worth it. I heard that dinner's spread includes scallops (my fav!!!!), a western grill that had many harping over, and a wider seafood selection. So dinner actually seems more worth the dollars!

That's all on Kiseki! Do feel free to share with us your thoughts on it and recommend us places to go too! Those taking exams soon, all the best! MUG ON!

YAMADA RESTAURANT & SUSHI BAR

Location: 2 Marina Boulevard The Sail @ Marina Bay #B1-08
How to go: Raffles Place MRT Exit J (Its at the financial center)
Opening hours: 11am - 2200 pm daily
Contact number: 62277648

Hi everyone!!!!! I couldn't wait for exams to end to post this so I have decided to churn this out now  before I sleep and study again the next day! Yes, if you have seen the teaser, it was May's birthday on Tuesday and we celebrated (a decoy celebration) at Yamada Restaurant & Sushi Bar! It wasn't where we intended to go at first, but since the restaurant we wanted to go was undergoing renovations, this was our next "on the spot" option and boy weren't we pleased.

Let me start by saying that we had an accounting paper earlier that day and I told May that we should celebrate her birthday at least (to prevent her from going home). Yes, my friends and I cooked up a surprise for her at her house so we definitely don't want her home till 7ish! Hence I had the job to ensure quality time was spent before we surprise her.

Okay so we reached Yamada and saw a sign that prints: BUFFET eat all you can from 6pm-9pm. We were kinda put off cos we were there at about 4pm so we were far from the time to enjoy the buffet. But the staff told us that we could still enjoy the 3 hours buffet for the same price: $39.90 ++ which translated to about $47/person when you add the GST and service charges. It's kinda high in price from what we have always offered in our blog, but it is afterall for a 21st celebration and hence we were willing to splurge a little bit more. We've included the menu here as usual!

Sashimi Platter:

  • We had 10 slices of Salmon, 10 slices of Swordfish and 10 slices of Cold Shrimp. (The staff repeated the orders thrice in slight disbelief just to reconfirm; yes we eat too and after an exam? We eat more, that's all.)
  • Needless to say, all the fishes and the shrimps were fresh!
  • The swordfish and the cold shrimp were sweet but they leave a slight raw after taste.
  • Swordfish was Q!!!
  • We both love the Salmon sooooo much!!

Salmon Salad:
  • I am bent on having vegetables in every meal (Everyone who knows that calls me a rabbit for that reason)
  • It tastes like Yu Sheng actually. The sauce is very appetizing and it makes the whole salad soooo tasty!
  • The garlic bits added to the flavour!
  • They gave a good amount of salmon in it! (I mean for the price of the buffet they really have to)

Tempura:
  • Batter is fine, not too thick (Not consistent in thickness though)
  • But it was yumz in any case as any fried can't go wrong too far.

Stir Fried Pork:
  • Very good! It's not too oily and it smells sooooooooooo great!
  • They stir fry pork with alot of vegetables. Naturally, being three quarters a herbivore I wolfed down all the vegetables; May and I shared the pork.
  • There is a slight peppery taste in it too!

Chawanmushi:
  • It feels a little too firm for Chawanmushi. Normal ones melt, this one's slightly firm
  • Also, it tasted sweet rather than salty!

Age Deshi Tofu:
  • We ordered Cold Tofu actually, but we got this in the end-.-
  • I don't have much to complain cos I liked it! It was smooth and silky and I love it warm together with its chewy skin. (But May prefers her tofu cold so yeaps)

Overall Advantages:
  • The service staff was polite. She knows her menu well and refilled the tea without prompting.
  • Food quality was good and the ambiance was quiet, but I am pretty sure that was due to the time which draws no crowd.

Overall Disadvantages:
  • Apart for the wrong order, we have none to speak off.

We would say that Yamada is definitely one to visit if you wanna have a nice and enjoyable buffet. I think we ate more than $94 worth! It's rather small a restaurant, so if you intend to hit over during dining hours, I suggest you make a reservation just in case!

That's all for the decoy celebration we had for May's 21st! I have to say that it was a splendid and successful one! YAY! Love you all! Till next time! Ciao!
