Hi Lovelies <3 Chinese New Year is coming! Looking forward to a load of red packets coming your way? For those giving red packets, looking forward to making a child smile? (Wells, kiddos at the age 20 are still considered a child when it comes to CNY) I know I am looking forward to wearing a nice dress out to meet people :) Remember not to catch a sore throat with all the eating of CNY goodies! Drink loads of Vitamin C daily during this period!

May&FJ went to Cups N Canvas awhile back and boy weren't we amazed with the interior decor! It was sooooo prettay! Here are some pictures!

We ordered a Pan Seared Dory with Corn Salsa ($9.90), Blanc Bacon ($15.90), Sweet Potato Latte ($4.80), Latte ($4.80) and French Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream ($6.50). We have spent about $39.80 in total.
We have included the menu here.

Pan Seared Dory with Corn Salsa:

  • The corn salsa was very fresh, together with onions, tomatoes and corn, the combination was amazing! I am not a corn lover, but in general was this was good!
  • Salad was fresh. It was accompanied by a good sauce.
  • The dory fish was very well grilled. It was very fresh and very very very juicy! I can't stress how juicy it was!
  • The salsa with the fish is a very interesting combination. The corn provides the sweetness and the fish gives the salty tastes. Very good!

Blanc Bacon:
  • Generous servings of bacon & mushrooms.
  • Bacon was just right, it was not too salty.
  • Cream sauce was not too much. You won't get too sick after eating it.
  • Mushrooms were juicy!!
  • There was a 10% promotion for pasta and drink. Hence we paid about $18.65 for both the pasta and latte.

Latte:
  • Nice coffee art.
  • There was sufficient froth.
  • It wasn't too bitter. There was a right amount of coffee to milk ratio.
  • It doesn't have the acidic after taste

Sweet Potato Latte:
  • No caffeine included.
  • It was a very very unique latte that required an acquired taste bud.
  • It was very thick and there was real sweet potato included.
  • It was very milky.
  • Personally, it's not something I'd order again for it was too milky for my liking. I'd prefer if it came in a coffee base instead of milk.

French Apple Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream:
  • It actually comes with a mango sauce which provided a slightly sour.
  • There was a generous amount of apples inside the cake. The apples layer the cake. It's like a layer of cake, no top of that a layer of apples, a layer of cake, a layer of apples and so forth.
  • There was a faint cinnamon taste in the cake.
  • They were also very generous with the amount of Vanilla Ice Cream.
  • The cake was light and moist. Together with the Vanilla Ice Cream, it was awesome <3
  • This is one cake I'd personally recommend! It was soooooooo good.

Cups N Canvas was honestly a good experience. May&FJ really enjoyed our time there and we had a good long conversation talking about almost anything. It's a good place for gatherings. There are no additional GST and service charges

Have you been to Cups N Canvas? Do share your experiences with us:) We'd love to hear from you lovely people!

(Pictures of pretty may ^^ )
That's all for now! Till the next food post :)

HI ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!! MAY&FJ'S BACK Y'ALL! Sorry for the LOOOOOOOOOONG haitus, I kinda fell sick last week with crazy dengue-.- So I was absolutely bedridden with no energy or brain juice to write anything! But no worries, I am up and back in the pink of health now so here comes the new review for you peeps!

I chanced upon The Missing Pan whilst on my way to school, got excited cuz it looked pretty on the outside and hence I told dear May that this was one place to visit! Through a quick research we found out that The Missing Pan was opened only at late 2013, so it is a relatively new establishment!

The Missing Pan is a rather cool place with 2 floors and a mini internal elevator to take you up to the second floor! Cool or what. But mind you its really mini, it fits 2 people just fine, 3 is pushing it and 4 is just purely squeezzzzzzyyyyyyyy. It has a rather pretty interior too! Photos below tells it all!

Anyways, we ordered a Rosemary Rosti Stack ($16), a 62 Degrees Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon ($22) and a Cappuccino ($5.50). We paid about $50.90 in total. The menu is included here as follows!

Rosemary Rosti Stack:

  • They had roasted/bbq thin strips of cucumber for salad. It was heavenly! The cucumber was crunchy and nice. There was a dash of pepper on the salad that made the whole salad perfect.
  • The Rosti had HUGE amounts of bacon hidden in between it that provided the salty taste. But to be honest, the bacon was toasted/roasted to it's hardest! It was soooo hard! Quoting May: It's testing my chewing abilities.
  • The Rosti itself was done to perfection.
  • We have to say that the sunny side up was absolutely the ultz! Just look at it!

62 degrees Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon:
  • The Hollandaise Sauce looks kinda unique and tasted different from the usual. It goes very well with the smoked salmon.
  • The bread was hard as usual. It's the nature of Sourdough, so oh well.
  • They give you VERY GENEROUS amounts of smoked salmon!
  • The avocado spread was mild in taste. So for those non-avocado lovers, don't you worry!
  • The egg bens were really well done!
  • $22 may seem like a huge price to pay, but for the portion, it is rather worth it!

Cappuccino:
  • Mid-strong in taste,
  • Foam is strong and thick.
  • It does not have a weird after taste.

Overall, our experience at The Missing Pan was indeed awesome! They have really awesome bakes in there too! Gonna try them another time for sure! Do let us know about your trip to The Missing Pan if you've been there!

Love you all as always! Till next time!

(Only a photo of dear May this time because I looked horrid in the other photos)

HELLO!!! It's the third day of 2014 in Singapore right now! How are things going for you all thus far? I took part in FPA (Film & Performing Arts) CCA recently and there's a production coming up on the 11th of January! If you peeps are interested in plays, this is one to go for! (I'm a play buff, and this play has very interesting elements! Do come and watch^^)
The production: The Chapters of Love will be held at UCC (NUS) at 7.30pm on 11/01/2014, tickets are going at $18 each :) You can email fpa@mymail.sim.edu.sg to get your tickets and find out more information about this production^^

Okay, so much for promoting:) Back, to fooooood! I have visited Togi @ Triple One Somerset with my friend some time back last December before she flew off to America for exchange. I gotta say boy were we impressed. The interior decor of this outlet was really pretty with all the wall mount plants; it makes one feel very serene just stepping into it!

We ordered a Budae Chigae for 2 persons ($38), added some dokbokki and mandu ($2) and ordered a Kimchi Pajeon ($12). We paid a total of $62.01 The menu's included here as follows! Do note that they charge $0.50 for water too-.-

Budae Chigae:
  • Consists of: mushrooms, dokbokki, sausages, ham, ramen, tofu, spring onions, kimchi. It's really a lot! And we added dokbokki and mandu somemore! (The menu did not state the whole list of ingredients inside hence)  It was ALOT!
  • The soup base was really good and tasty.
  • The portion was really huge! It could feed more than two! Easily 4 people!! It's definitely worth your dollars if you come out with friends to share! Sadly, both of us could not finish it :(
  • It came with side dishes, and one of them was porridge, definitely not something you see daily in a Korean restaurant.

(This was how much we have left after filling our stomachs to the brim!!)

Kimchi Pajeon:
  • The thickness was just fine. It was starchy just the way my friend liked it.
  • The taste of it was good, and $12 is definitely very worth it for something this size!
  • One down point was that it did not come with the vinegary sauce that other Korean Restaurants provide.

Overall, I would say that this is one place worth visiting, with a bigger group if you intend to try the budae chigae. My experience here was rather good, the staffs were very polite. Have you been to Togi before? Let's hear your experience! Comment or email us :)

Till the next time lovelies, cya!
