This is one little restaurant i found near kembangan Mrt station while working. I stopped by as its signboard caught my attention. The atmosphere here is lovely compared to the scotching hot sun Singapore has to offer! Music hear leans towards to 60s-80s~very soothing and away from city life.

I ordered a rosemary chicken ($9.8) and topped up ($5) for a set meal that comes with a drink and soup of the day! I paid $14.80 in total. This is their lunch promo from 1100am to 1500pm. Today's soup was Forest Mushroom Cappuccino! Here's their menu!!

Forest Mushroom Cappucino:
  • As said by staff, there ain't coffee inside. Just the way it's presented that looked like Cappuccino
  • The mushroom soup was very tasty. With bits of mushrooms and slight cream taste, it doesn't make you sick after a couple of spoonfuls.
  •  I like it less creamy and this is just fine! It came with a couple of croutons which  was like a cherry on top an ice cream!
  • There's a slight tinge of pepper and salt taste as well^^
  • The foam gave the soup a puffy feeling in the mouth; not bad

Rosemarry Chicken:
  • Tinge of red wine taste:) Love love it!
  • The chicken was decked in little bits of herbs:) I like slightly herbal stuffs so its awesome!
  • The vegetables were too hard for my liking. It would be better if they could boil it longer!
  • Fries were slightly salty and crunchy (freshly made)
  • Mushrooms on the chicken had a slight creamy taste.
  • Meat was juicy with a slight pepper taste. But it left a slightly dry taste after I  chewed on it for too long. I'd prefer more sauce on it. (Im a saucy person)

Overall Advantages:
  • The food came rather quickly.
  • Good place to bring a date:) They have like cubical seats tt allows u to be in a world of your own.
  • The only thing i regret was that i forgot my book, it was a rather good place to chill.
  • Prices are nett. It is affordable!

Honestly this was a GEM found during work! Made me a happy girl! Life's been really hectic at the moment. Been busy with work, doing secret stuffs for my friends and Maymay's work is piling too!!! WE ARE ALL PACKED TO THE BRIM. Need a breather! Finding some time with our inner self is very important! Do find time for yourself during a hectic schedule!!! Love you all!!!!

***Update on 08/11/2015
Hi! It's been awhile since I've been here. Things in life have been moving pretty fast paced and as working life kicks in, blogging turned secondary almost in an instant. However, I have popped by Rice & Fries just yesterday with a dinner partner and I thought I'd give an update on the food we have tried. This is mostly to entice you all to take the time and travel to Kembangan to this creatively looking restaurant. Trust me it's quicker if you use the circle line, it has made my life so much easier to visit Kembangan!

Firstly on the menu: The one up there is outdated. I understand that they now have a special menu and a desserts menu on top of their usual. Their special menu may change depending on what's hot in that season, but currently, they have lobsters, scallops and other eggciting items on the menu. They also have a desserts menu that includes home-made lave cake and waffles. Will take the time to capture photos during my next trip :)

What we ate:

Pork Chop ($15.80):

  • It was a hearty portion. It came with a good chunk of pork (just look at the photo, the meat filled up almost 3 quarters the plate), potato wedges and some raw vegetables; hence very reasonably priced.
  • The meat was soooooo tender. It was also very juicy and succulent, one bite was all it took to change my impression of tough pork chops.
  • Anything goes well with barbecue sauce. Really, anything! And that means pork chop too.
  • I highly recommend you consider this as one of your must haves when you are there. Remember to go with an empty tummy.

SPAM Fries with Salted Egg Yolk Dip ($9.80):

  • We actually decided on this appetizer for the dip. However, for those who are expecting a Liu Sha Bao like filling and taste, I am sorry to disappoint you. There was only a faint taste of salted egg. It tasted pretty heavy on the curry leaves and chilli padi that were added into the sauce.
  • But nonetheless, we still enjoyed the Luncheon Fries that were fried with curry leaves. It's actually pretty tasty on its own without the dip. But the dip added some points to it as well.
  • If you are up for a savory appetizer, you may consider ordering this.

Would like to emphasize that the prices stated on their menu are nett prices. Which is technically more wallet friendly compared to other restaurants out there.

So do drop by with your friends and love ones someday to Rice&Fries. It's the place to be for a Saturday night hangout.

With lots of love, till next time.
