HI ALLLLLL~YES WE'RE BACK!!
Nopes, exams have not ended, May and I still have one more paper on Monday to go before we're done for prelims this time round! But my itchy fingers just could not resist typing an article and hence I am back once more! This time round with a French food review at Poulet with Joey ^^ (May wasn't feeling well that day and Joey and I were mugging in the library and decided on good food to reward ourselves for a good day's work)

So, what's so awesome about Poulet? I have heard it from Joey who had visited when she had an outing with her friends. she told me that food's there is reasonable and not bad. So we've decided to include it in our blog for a review!
We ordered: Sauteed Mushroom ($7.80), Oxtail ($15.80) and a French Onion Soup ($5.80); our bill came to a total of $34.60! That's about $17.30 between the both of us. Quite worth it! I have included the menu here. I have to really apologize for the pictures of the menu, the lighting was bad so no matter how I've tried to avoid the shadow, I just couldn't. Looks like I need a photography session with the pros :(

French Onion Soup:

  • Croutons and the soup matches perfectly.
  • It's very flavorful, good for an appetizer!
  • Caramelized onions provides the sweet taste in the soup, heavenly!
  • There are small mushroom bits in the soup, kinda little though.
  • But we felt that you'll be sick of the soup if you're having the whole bowl to yourself. We recommend a bowl for 2, just nice!

Sauteed Mushrooms:
  • Eggs were PERFECTLY poached. GOOD!
  • Mushrooms are q! So much better than the ones we had at Canopy~

Oxtail:
  • Meat's tender. It melts in your mouth!
  • They cooked it's ligament till tender too!
  • The fats melt in your mouth! MELT!!! (I had an excited friend)
  • The whole onion in the dish has a slight herbal taste! MMMMM~
  • Sauce has a tinge of red wine as stated in the menu~I like the taste of it! Plus, the sauce is THICK!

Advantage:

  • Prices are reasonable.
  • Staff members are polite.
Disadvantage:
  • The whole restaurant is slightly cramped.
  • We requested for warm water but got cold water instead. (They were very busy during dinner)
Note:
  • Service charge and GST applies.
  • The queue starts lining up at about 7pm! So better go early for make a reservation before that!
Overall, I would say that our experience in Poulet was a good one. We were three quarters full after the 3 dishes and went for a Cold Stone Apple Pie Ice Cream to fill in the dessert section in our stomachs. We were relatively happy kids by then.

Okay till next time people!

***Updates (30/05):
Hi all! This is an update on our experience at the newly open Poulet outlet at VIVO City. Today's experience clearly shows that a brand can only be similar in their taste of food for they follow a recipe, but the standard of food and service definitely differs for chefs and service staffs are different.

We ordered the same Sauteed Mushrooms today at the VIVO outlet and realized that their poached egg was two thirds hardboiled and one third poached-.- Imagine our unhappiness. So we kinda told the staff that the egg wasn't done properly nicely.

(As you can see, the only part that was liquid was just at the far end and the rest was just hard boiled egg)

The next thing we knew the staff got defensive and told us that poached eggs were supposedly a little watery only. Wells, since she was defensive we just let it go (I mean why would you wanna make a big hooha over a staff who was willing to defend blindly?) and since this was how Poulet VIVO outlet defined poached eggs we let it go. But we made it clear to her when we went out that the Bugis outlet served us perfectly poached eggs and that was when she went "Oh I see, if you had told me, I would have had it changed." Hi lady, we told you. You just didn't listen?

We're fine with you wanting to defend your brand, but you should have LISTENED. Not just open your mouth blindly without listening and then telling us to tell you accurately-.- This shows bad service standards and lack of EQ competence in staff (It's just her only, the rest of them, or so far those we encountered were fine. If the owner of this outlet is reading, maybe you can ask the staff to own up herself. I see no need to take down her name and broadcast it here).

I guess it was just our unlucky day to visit Poulet VIVO today, you guys should really keep a look out on their poached eggs in case you wish to order them.

Do you guys have similar experiences or perhaps just the opposite? No worries, we would love to hear them too!
