Kkongdon

Location: Marina Square Link B1-01/02

Hey people! So May&FJ visited Kkongdon today! It was a spontaneous trip thanks to a review on the newspaper. This can be considered our first official food trip and the start of our blog:)
To start the ball rolling, the atmosphere of the restaurant was...filled with Kpop culture; hence it would be inviting for all the Kpop fans.

We ate group set lunch A which consists of:
  • Beef & Pork  meat
  • Bibimbap
  • Kimchi & toufu soup / kimchi pancake (we chose Kimchi & toufu soup)
  • free flow side dish buffet :
    • cucumber kimchi
    • white kimchi
    • raw lettuces
    • raw onions
    • raw carrots
    • raw cucumbers
We spent a total of $28.25 for 2 people, GST and service charge included! Here is an attached menu of the lunch promo:

Advantages:
  • They have a clean air purifier attached at the top of every table that absorbs all the smoke so you won't go out smelling like barbecue (really considerate of them)
  • Very spacious, with good ventilation unlike some barbecue places where the tables are so cramped
  • Good if you wish to try out a variety of Korean food at one go (they offer 3 types of main dishes for 1 set)
  • Good service staffs
  • Waiting time for food is pretty fast
  • 2 TVs that show Kpop stars singing (but you gotta choose your seats wisely)
  • Kimchi & Toufu Soup is good, we recommend this!
  • Meat is not marinated, so you have the chance to try its original tastes and even dip them in the sauces provided. If you love to try a variety of tastes, this is a good option too.
  • Meat chunks are thick! (here's your value for money)

Disadvantages:
  • If you intend to have a meat-full meal, this may not be your best option as they serve by portion per head count.
  • Water is NOT free here; it's $0.30/person (bring your own bottles my friends, unless this doesn't bother you)
  • The sauce given for Bibimbap is kinda little, if you have a penchant for a savory foods, you can always request for extra sauce from the staff there (it's free of charge, so don't be shy)

Things to note:
  • The group set lunch allows you to enjoy the side dish buffet which otherwise costs $5.50++ (hence, if you want the endless free flow of side dishes, this would be a better choice)
  • A minimum of 2 people is required for group set lunch
  • Last order for the promotion is at 2.30 PM
  • Service charge and GST applies

Overall, we would say that it's an enjoyable experience and we certainly did NOT smell of barbecue when we left the place. Go have a try! It's a value for money!!
Ciao~
