Hi all! It has been some time since the last post I made while I was in Seoul. Seoul had been very wonderful and eventful except for the unpredictable summer weather. I really enjoyed my time there as a Summer Exchange Student in Sungkyunguan University (SKKU). University kiddos, if y'all are looking for an affordable Summer Programme, I would definitely suggest SKKU.  My total expenditure which included my school fees, accommodation, airfares, travelling within South Korea and all other touristy stuffs were capped at $5000 max. I still had a couple of hundreds left. So it's definitely very worth it. I'm planning a post on this exchange trip, so do keep a look out!

Coming back to the lovely W39 Bristro & Bakery; May and I have heard of it since forever and managed to find some time off to visit this lovely place. We ordered: Lunch Set D: Pan Fried Salmon ($21.90), Confit of Duck Leg ($19.50), a Cafe Latte ($4.50), a Mr Chocolate with Vanilla Ice Cream ($8.80), and an Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream ($8.80). The bill was totaled at $69.85.
We have included the menu as follows.

Lunch Set D: Pan Fried Salmon:

  • Comes with a drink and soup of the day.
  • Chose a Honey Lemon drink and soup of the day was Carrot and Potato.
  • Soup was puree with potato bits. It served as a very good appetizer.
  • It was a pleasant surprise as this was not something you get as "the soup of the day" usually.
  • The salmon was very juicy and had a crispy finish.
  • The sauce accompanying the fish was savory and very delectable. It also goes very well with the mash.
  • The salad portion was reasonable, giving a balance to the dish.
  • Overall, it was an affordable lunch set!

Confit of Duck Leg:
  • Duck Confit came with a generous serving of creamy mash that complemented the duck.
  • Duck was well seasoned and the meat came off easily.
  • The only downside was that the meat was a little too tough.
  • The tomato in the salad was ripe, juicy, and baked to perfection.

Latte:

  • Well bodied.
  • Ratio of milk to coffee beans was just right!

Mr Chocolate with Vanilla Ice Cream:

  • Generous portion of moist chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream.
  • The warm and rich chocolate sauce with cold vanilla ice cream was a good mix of flavours.

Apple Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream:
  • Portion was huge ass. Totally worth the $$$.
  • Apple cinnamon was gooooood.
  • Crumble was really sweet and crispy as they heated the pastry. You could actually do without the ice cream as there was enough sweetness. (It would have been cheaper too.)
  • The tart holding the filling and crumble could have been slightly thicker to provide more texture variation.

Note:
  • Reservations for weekend brunch can be made for 2 persons onwards. Timings are: 0900, 1100,  and 1300 respectively. Patrons will have to finish their food by 2 hours.
  • Lunch set meals are only available from Tue-Fri: 1130am - 1430pm.

Overall, May and I really enjoyed our trip to W39 Bristro & Bakery^^. We definitely wish to head back for Brunch and more desserts! Till our next post, ciao!
