HAIHAI!!!! May&FJ are back with a new review on: eM By The River.
Honestly, this place was really HARD to get there and google map made a fool outta us so we were walking in circles and stuff. So you can literally imagine how thankful we were to even find it!

So eM By The River is actually a jazzed up bar with an open space concept together with a huge alfresco area. The alfresco area is to cater to the smoking cliente and those who want a view by the river whereas the indoor area is for the non-smokers. As we were there in the early noon, the alfresco area was already filled and we were lucky enough to snag some seats at the bar counter.

So we ordered a plate of Eggs Royale ($17), a Traditional Swiss Rosti ($14) and a Mushroom Soup ($7). The bill totaled to $38. We have included the menu here! So you peeps can check it out.

Eggs Royale:

  • The English Muffins were soft! We wouldn't say that they were fluffy either, but they weren't hard.
  • They gave a generous amount of smoked salmon.
  • The amount of hollandaise sauce was reasonable.
  • Eggs were not perfectly poached. They were kinda soft boiled at the ridges of the egg white. But it's still fine for most of it's yolk was runny.
  • Strong taste of vinegar was evident.

Traditional Swiss Rosti:
  • It came with mozzarella, fried onions and a sunny side up.
  • Rosti was rather thin.
  • Mozzarella serving was generous, almost the whole circle was covered.
  • The fried onions gave the dish an extra oomph, but they were fried too long. They were not crispy and were slightly hard.
  • The sunny side up was done to perfection! (Just look at the yolk!)

Mushroom Soup:
  • It has a tinge of milk taste.
  • The mushroom taste is strong; the shitake mushroom bits really bring out the flavour.
  • However it was not really super fantastic to render the $7. (May said her mummy can do better)
  • Also, darling May said that it tasted like Laughing Cow Mushroom Flavour Cheese Cubes. (Holycow, I really do NOT enjoy cheese :S)

Overall Advantages:
  • We have to say that the ambiance is really nice.
  • It'd be really lively at night! Together with a drink or two, I think this is a place to spend your night life.
  • They do not charge you service charge and GST is included in the menu price.
Overall Disadvantages:
  • The staff keyed in the bill wrongly for one of the tables. So do ensure you double check the bill before making payment.
  • It was hard to get the attention of the staff even though we were sitting at the bar counter.
  • The staff also lacked the initiative. We helped ourselves to the menu and even had to ask for serving plates. (Maybe that's why they did not have service charge included in the final bill)

Note:
  • Their All Day Breakfast ain't ALL day literally. It ends at 3pm.
So! This is our take on eM By The River! Their spaghetti looks good too! Think we're gonna go back once we find the courage to walk and get lost again at Robertson Quay. Have you been to eM By The River before? Do let us know your thoughts too!
Till next time lovelies! Ciao!

Skull & HaHa Singapore Showcase

Hihihihihihihi!!!!! Here's the post that I have been dying to get it out straight after the showcase but was utterly delayed by the vicious cycle of video uploading-.-
But nonetheless, it's up!!!!

Yes!!! I went for Skull & Haha's showcase on the 20th July. Before I talk more about the showcase, here's a little on how I gotta know them. Well I am sure many of you gotta know HaHa through the popular variety show: Running Man. But I gotta know HaHa and his reggae music on another show: Infinity Challenge, where he performed with 10 Cm: 죽을래 사귈래. (jukeullae saguillae). This vid showed the Dokkbogi song too, that was sang during the encore.

This song caught my attention before the Singers did for I was only watching that episode as
G- Dragon was in it. But yes, awesome song! You guys should check it out too.
As for Skull, I only knew about him when I head about this duo and some buzzes about him once being in YG before this duo turn out and stuffs. But honestly, when he got on stage, you can not not like this man's voice. So essentially, it didn't matter if I really knew this man or not, his husky voice rocks!

Reggae has been hitting out the markets more often recently especially with 2NE1's Falling In Love making top charts. While that's the case for idols like 2NE1, the duo said during the showcase that they never made number one in Korea, but they were thankful that Singapore Fans place them number one in their hearts.

So the evening started with fans queuing outside the hot and humid weather waiting to get inside Zouk. When we finally get to enter, DJ IT (incidentally one of the award winning DJs) brought the beats and the volume up. It was kinda sad to note that while the beats were pumping the crowd still remained as cool and careless as they await for their stars to arrive.

As the crowd started to fill in the floor, the MCs got the ball rolling by getting the crowd warmed up to Skull & HaHa's first entrance. As the crowd cheered, Skull & HaHa arrived and got the crowd cheering to their first song: ReggaErilla. They even tried to be cheeky by speaking a bit of English asking each other how they are, that had the crowd cheering and they started on the chorus again. You would have thought that would be the end of it, but no, as they ended their first witty entrance, they started the chorus again and got the crowd high!

The MCs did a slight interview with them starting with what's their favourite Singapore Food . Both said in union: "Chili Crab!" "Black Pepper Crab". That sounded almost as rehearsed as I tell you that my favourite Korean Food is Kimchi. But HaHa had the crowd laughing after by saying that he loves "Singapore Beer, Tiger!" Also, before they started on the next song, Skull said that he's thankful that that he saw many "Chio Bu"s down stage, that had the crowd raving mad. They also promised those who partied the hardest presents. It can be seen through this interview that Skull's more fluent in English, which was perhaps due to the fact that he did do some promotions in the USA. HaHa also requested the crowd to jump! He said he didn't want much and if the crowd could just jump on their toes, he'd be happy enough. (He even did a demonstration for it).

So they did their second song: From Fool to Fool. To say that this song is fully Reggae won't do this song much justice as the chorus is rather upbeat accompanied by loads of techno. Maybe it's base is Reggae? They had the crowd raving mad when the chorus started. If you guys are wondering who's the sunglasses dude that's taking a vid behind them, he's HaHa's stylist. Not to forget, HaHa also sprayed water to the crowds. (Should I feel lucky that I got sprayed by it too?) Hahahahas, wells he did not leave himself out too, he poured a bottle of water on himself and had the crowd screaming MAD. But wells, his poor stylist had to mop the stage after that was done as a safety precaution for the stars.

After the second song, they had this mini competition where 3 fans are chosen for the lyrics they wrote for Busan Vaccation that includes Singapore inside. Wells, obviously the normal stuff came out like: Merlion, Esplanade, Sentosa...I mean what else can there be when you are writing lyrics that describes the landmarks we have over here. But out of the 3 contestants, the third one who is also the youngest stood out in with better singing tone and a better lyrics fit. Hence the audience chose her as the winner via their cheers. Congrats to this young lady (whose name HaHa couldn't manage to pronounce as it was slightly hard for him) she got herself a Skull & HaHa T-shirt!

Right after this prize presentation, the duo said that the third song would be their last one due to time constraints and Skull said "Maybe, maybe if you guys say encore, maybe we might just do one more song". That had the crowd laughing so in any case, the duo jumped straight into their hit song: Busan Vaccation. By that time, the crowd was fully warmed up and they screamed and belted out "Oh Oh" with the duo.

Of course the crowd shouted "Encore Encore" after this song and they got on stage again and belted out about 3 more songs. Recording was prohibited after that (sadly, i don't see why, maybe copyrights issues or something) but one of the songs that caught my attention was the one HaHa called: 술변 (sul pyeon). He requested the lights to be turned off and have the fans to switch on their phone's lights so that they can like his little stars shining on him brightly. The scene was rather pretty and HaHa sounded rather emotional when he sang it.

During the whole period, they kept throwing towels, T-shirts and some fans to the audience. That kept the crowd wild! To the fact that HaHa even asked if the fans prefer the presents or him. Wells he did a slight test on the cheering and when the presents flashed out, the screams got even louder. I think he knew the answer by then. They even invited a lady on stage and danced with her! Wells, ain't she lucky? She got to hug them too!

The night ended with the duo having a photo session with the audience. They went from stage left to stage right and conveniently missed the center. They also took phones and ipads from audiences within their reach and took photos using those too~lucky fans huh?!?!

Oh wells, I gotta say that these 2 men were really good at their fan service and the music was good! I have tagged the vids on the song titles, you peeps can check them out!!!!
Till next time!!!

CHANGI VILLAGE

Location: Changi Village
How to get there: I think there are buses like 109 that stops at Changi Bus Interchange. Google Map it. (Google Map has been a really good friend of mine recently)

Hi all! I have been wandering around Changi for about 2 days recently and I have spotted a couple of eats place that may interest you peeps:)
If you google Changi Village most likely you'd have: Best Chicken Wings, Good Hokkien Mee, Awesome Satay and so forth. Hence I'm not touching on these stuff that you can essentially find off hand online.

Today I'm gonna tell you about: Great Ipoh Hor Fun, Yummilious Fried Fritters, and awesome cheeeeeap cupcakes!

Okay, to start the ball rolling: Wee Kee Ipoh Hor Fun

I think this stall had been here for ages, but I have only heard about it from my dad recently. So being near that area, I have decided to try their Chicken Culet Ipoh Hor Fun.

  • The Sauce was rather salty on its own, so dont try it without mixing it together with the noodles.
  • The noodles were soft and chewy
  • I loved how the crispy chicken turns soggy when you mix it. It absorbed the taste of the sauce and it was heavenly
  • They served a lot of chicken, but very little soup.
  • They are really popular over there, the queue expands vastly at nights! Business was also rather good in the afternoon as the customers kept coming in small packs.
  • I have tried their wanton mee before, but it wasn't fantastic, therefore if you're looking for good eats at this stall, go straight for this hor fun!

Next would be the Fried Fritters at Changi Village:
Honestly, I was kinda in a rush that I have forgotten to take note of the stall's name. But they are essentially located at the entrance of the Hwaker Center and I think they are the only stall selling fried fritters.
I bought a large Banana Fried Fritter ($1.20) to try and it was awesomely awesome. You know how fritters are, they are fried, oily and fatty but soooooooooooo sooooooooooooooo goooooooood and heavenly. So if you so happen to pop by, TRY IT!!!

Lastly, it would be the cupcakes I was talking about from Beccarino Cakes & Pastries.
It is located at 4 Changi Village Road #01-2072
Tel: 9763 2118
Website: www.beccarino.com
Email: ken@beccarino.com

They sell you awesome cupcakes at the price of $1.30. I bought 4: Orange Peel & Cream Cupcake, Banana Cupcake, Banana Chocolate Chips Cupcake and a Banana Walnut Cupcake. So far, 3 have entered my tummy!
  • Their cakes are rather soft and spongy. It is also full and compact unlike some that serves you loose cake.
  • They give reasonable amounts of ingredients in their cupcakes. They have toppings on top and toppings within the cupcake itself. (Just this makes the $1.30 a cupcake sooooooo worth it!!)
  • The Orange Peel & Cream was easily my favourite. The orange taste was just fine and the orange cream tastes tangy and appetizing.
  • The Cupcakes with bananas were great too! They give a good amount of bananas
  • I have to say this is one cupcake place i'd visit again.

So thats all on my food ventures in Changi Village! You peeps should really check em' out yeaps!!!! There will be more posts to come.

I know I have given a shoutout on insta that I'd be doing a piece on Skull & HaHa's Showcase. Buuuuuttttttt, the vids are taking sooooooooooooooooo long to upload. So I hope you guys will pardon me for the fact that I can't churn the article out by tonight, but it will definitely be up!!!!! When the vids are done, this piece will be up too :)

Adam's Family

Dah dah dah dum *clap clap*

Sounds familiar? Oh~~boy it sure did to me! Its the notorious tune of the ADAM'S FAMILY<3
I gonna tell you it's good, it's worth paying for the tickets to watch them and I am gonna tell you if you are not gonna catch it while it's still here, you are missing out on some good stuffs, like honestly.

Im not gonna spill the plot, but I love every single bit of the characters, the jokes, the set and the technology used. Having done both front stage and back stage before, its really a joy to be able to see how smoothly the set changes, how the actors take their positions and how the lights and music sync as one with both set and actors.

I bought the $55 tickets, it's kinda far, but it does not stop you from experiencing the magic this musical can bring to you. Absolutely magical! So go catch it while you still can lovelies!!!!!!!!

Dah dah dah dum *clap clap*
Last show's on 28 July! you can check out Sistic's page for more info!!

BIBIGO @ NEX

Location: Nex Level 3
How to get there: Serangoon Mrt Station
Opening hours:
Daily at 1130am - 2200pm (last order at 2130pm)
Contact number: 65098272

Hihi! Life's been great recently! How are you all doing?? Have been doing loads of catch-ups and meetings with old friends! Had one recently a Bibigo. Being a Korean fanatic, I know that this place was famous for having stars like Rain and CL visiting. Even the gangnam style PSY is endorsing for them! As a passionately curious Korean food lover, I just had to check this place out!

Bibigo is kinda different from your everyday Korean restaurants for they have decided to add "healthy" into their marketing strategies. I have to say, it's working well, who eats bland and tasteless food when Bibigo offers you tasty and healthy dishes? But personally, it's mostly healthy not entirely, but mostly.

So we had a Spicy Pork Tofu Stew ($9.90), a Chicken Kimchi Fried Rice ($9.90), a Hot Stone Bulgogi ($9.90) and 2 sides: Japchae ($5.90) and Pajeon ($5.90). The total bill came off to a total of $43.90. The menu is included as always^^

(We only ordered from this menu as its prices are naturally friendlier)

Overall Advantages:

  • I love how the restaurant was spacious enough to have your own privacy and their food presentations looked rather great!
  • The Hot Stone Bulgogi was filled with all sorts of mushrooms, loads of well marinated beef and a good amount of glass noodles. It was certainly very appetizing for us. The meat lovers should really give this a go!
  • Next up would be the Chicken Kimchi Fried Rice that one of my friends was utterly anticipating. She kept telling me how good it was and I wasn't disappointed. They used old kimchi and hence there is this sour-ish taste that wouldn't have you cringing at it's first taste. It is in fact rather flavorful. It came with a sunny side up; runny yolk! Awesome!
  • The Pajeon was not bad. It was crunchy and goes well with the sauce.
  • The Japchae was good, there was minced meat and mushrooms! I literally turn into fungi after eating that meal, but it's good for your body! Another note on the Japchae would be the lesser amount of sesame oil used, but the taste is still there!
 (Hot Stone Bulgogi)

(Chicken Kimchi Fried Rice)

(Japchae)

Overall Disadvantages:
  • Spicy Pork Tofu Stew was not fantastic. There's this odd taste to it that didn't settle well with me. Also, it had this layer of oil that had me eyeballing the word "healthy" in their marketing strategies. Not something that I will order again.
  • The appetizers while palatable were kinda expensive in my opinion. You should see the size on the Pajeon; T-I-N-Y. I know how appetizers are supposed to be small but nah ah this one does not justify the $5.90.
(Pajeon)

(Spicy Pork Tofu Stew)

Note:
  • GST and Service Charges apply.
  • If you hold a POSB Everyday card, you get a 10% off your A la Carte orders. (And hence the slightly lower amount for our total bill)
Overall, I would highly recommend you peeps to try out Bibigo's Chicken Kimchi Fried Rice and Hot Stone Bulgogi! Those are the ones that will keep me going back for moooooore!!!! Have you been to Bibigo before? You can always share with us your experience! We're always happy to hear from you all! We would love to have recommendations from you peeps too!!! Let us know!

Till next time!
